The Minoriten-Convent in the Ratisbon Museum

The last post concerned the opening of the panamericanArte exhibition in Regensburg in the Museum of Ratisbon. Here are some more photos from this day, showing the connecting-corridors to the church. The complete building was a Convent, today there is the municipal Museum. If you are visiting the museum, don't forget to have a look to the other parts of the complete building. The parts here shown are free.

Here you can find a fantastic model of Ratibson in the year 1630.

The Cathedral and the Circus

Idyllic places at the northern branche of the danube

It is a idyllic place, and it is not outside the town. No, it is almost in the middle of the city. This city district is called "Stadtamhof". On the other side of the photographed river there is an isle, called "Oberer Woehrd".

Demolition of a huge area in the west

The area near the "Ladehofstrasse" is a huge area in the west of ratisbon. There are some factory buildings and a big former railroad-area. There will start a complete new part of the town - with buildings, parks, streets. They started some months ago, and I often come here at the evening to enjoy the mood and to documentate the situation with my camera.

Bridge-Festival in Kallmuenz

Kallmünzer Brückenfest, 17.07.2015

Bridge-Festival in Kallmünz. With Music, Art, Culture and more.

Kallmünz is a municipality in the district of Regensburg in Bavaria, Germany. Situated at the river Naab about 25 km north of Regensburg Kallmünz has conserved a beautiful medieval center. The main attractions are the ruins of the Kallmünz Castle above the town on a cliff and the old stone bridge over the Naab River.

Kallmünz is called an artist-town. It was in Kallmünz that the Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky and the German expressionist painter Gabriele Münter met during the summer of 1903. Since then Kallmünz has been the constant home to a small Art colony.

Kallmünz castle, the seat of the former Counts of Kallmünz, has been fortified since the bronze age. Kallmünz also has a medieval bridge, bearing masons' marks, over the river Naab.

Danube and Ratisbon

A photo from 2008 on a sunny sunday-morning. This year, the towers of the cathedra were "free", no scaffolding on the tops. That was the first year after decades. Some years later, the scaffolding came back and are a problem for us photographer till today. I have to bei happy about all photos of these years.

You see the danube, the "Königliche Villa" (royal villa), the cathedral with it two towers, the tower of the townhall, and the stonbridge. In front of the stonbrigde ist another iron bridge.

Bossa Nova in the traditional tavern Spitalkeller

Mauricio Mendes in Ratisbon, "Spitalkeller"
 Screenshot of the homepage:

This tavern is and was part of a monestory, St. Katharina. There is also another tavern at the danube, the Spital-Garten. But this is the Spital-Keller. Keller means cellar. The beer-breweries had cellars to store beer at minimal temperatures. Under normal circumstances at the places of the cellars there are taverns too.

Owner is still the monestory St. Katharina. There are many social events in this tavern on the north of Ratisbon.

Last opportunity to explore the cathedral cloister

This 1000 year old building besides the ratisbon cathedral is called the "Domkreuzgang". It was a cathedral cloister for the monks and priests, and the priests walk through these halls to the former roman church. The roman church was overbuilt in the century of 1300 by the gothic cathedral, that we can see now.

In April 2015 this part was closed for renovation the next five years. They made a little nice festival und all could visit the rooms with free entrance and free guided-tours.

Cathedral St. Peter at Night

A Teleobjektiv-view from the "Nibelungen-Bridge" to the Cathedral. On the right side you can see the Rathaus-Turm (Town-Hall-Tower).

As place on google-maps I have noted the place of the photographer, not the cathedral.

It is empty since 5 years, and round the heritage-protected central building there will grow a complete new district. visiting the place I discovered open doors to a part of the building, that I never could explore till now. So I had to use the opportunit and make photos.

Sunset Sky over Regensburg

It is a strange thing, with this photo, and the rest of the photos from this evening. First I thought, I will  quickly be tired of looking this picture. It seems a little bit sugary. But this wasn't correkt. The photo is from 2008 and I like it like the first day.

I thought, there will many more opportunitys for similar photos. But I couldnt catch a view like this. So I am glad, that I had took my camara this day and went back to the bridge, where I saw this panorama, when I drove home.

I spent three yours photographing from the bridge, cause the sky was changing and changing, and I searched for good prospects and perspectives.

Marina Quartier - waiting to the tenants

I told you about the area about the old slaughterhouse. It is called the "Marina Quartier". I visited the area two months ago and found the first buildings ready, waiting for the families.
